Charlie Ricketts is a Trinity High School graduate whose under graduate degree was won at Bellarmine University and whose under graduate law work was accomplished (J.D.) at the U of L Brandeis School of Law. Post Graduate studies were performed at George Washington University while Charlie was assigned to Washington, D.D. as a Special Agent for the FBI.

While a FBI Agent, Ricketts was assigned to Minneapolis, Minnesota, Sioux Falls, South Dakota and the Nation's Seat of Government, Washington, D.C. His work in the Bureau included counter-intelligence, anti-terrorism and criminal prosecution including “white color” investigation. Ricketts' transition from these varied assignments was facilitated by skills he acquired as a radio and TV. News reporter at Louisville stations WAVE AM and TV before becoming an agent.

Upon his return to Louisville and while reestablishing himself as a lawyer and trial advocate, Charlie was appointed 1st Assistant commonwealth Attorney, prosecuting the City's high profile cases. At that same time in his career and for in excess of 20 years, Ricketts served on the Adjunct faculty of the University Of Louisville School Of Justice Administration and its non-accredited component Southern Police Institute. Also during those years, Charlie was appointed attorney for the City of Jeffersontown, assisting during that municipality's industrial growth phase. A significant part of then a fast developing practice consisted of zoning, municipal planning and ordinance drafting.

All of these experiences have formed the professional advocate and advisor Ricketts has become and from which he daily draws as he practices in all of the Courts of Kentucky, from “District” to “Supreme” levels. At the Federal Courts he practices successfully at both the trial and appellate levels. Coal Mine law cases, along with Mine Safety and Health Administration matters, at both the Federal Court and Administrative Law level, are frequently handled referrals typically for management and ownership clients.

As a litigator and as a general practitioner Ricketts well understands that to practice such a wide spectrum of the law, constant continuing legal and other education must be pursued, from even before Kentucky's Supreme Court adopted a mandatory CLE requirement Charlie annually accumulated CLE credits well in excess of any required level of such continued education and has, from the adoption of the CLE Rule, each year, won the KBA's CLE Award. He lectures at these programs on a frequent basis as well.

To be an effective representative for his clients, an attorney must know and be respected by his colleagues and the Judges before whom he appears. Ricketts knows this and has been an active Bar leader for the entirety of his career.

Jonathan Ricketts is a St. Xavier High School and Hanover College graduate. He received his Juris Doctor from the Brandeis School of Law at U of L after receiving his commission in the U.S. Navy as an Ensign.

After law school, Mr. Ricketts reported to Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island for duty with the Navy's Judge Advocate General's Corps and was subsequently sworn in as a Kentucky lawyer.

Mr. Ricketts was later stationed at Naval Station Bremerton, Naval Submarine Base Bangor, and Naval Air Station Pensacola. During his active duty period, Mr. Ricketts served as a Legal Assistance Attorney, Trial Defense Counsel, Tax Attorney, Staff Judge Advocate, Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of Florida, and Summary Courts-Martial Judge and Investigating Officer for investigations convened under Article 32 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Subsequent to his active duty military period, Mr. Ricketts returned to Louisville and began his private practice, and later joined forces with his father, Charlie Ricketts, in opening the Ricketts Law Offices, PLLC.

Since he began practicing law, Mr. Ricketts has deliberately cultivated a broad- based and liberal approach to his practice. He has represented clients before administrative hearings, in trial courts and at the appellate level on matters involving both civil and criminal law. He has handled adoptions, divorces and custody matters; capital murder, drug crimes, thefts, assaults and D.U.I. defense, as well as traffic court matters; disability and guardianship cases; probate and estate work; business formations and contract drafting and disputes. He has both prosecuted and defended cases. He has successfully litigated cases at every level and on varied legal issues throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Mr. Ricketts has worked hard to develop an ability to maneuver throughout the entire legal system in both state and federal courts so that the advice he gives can be complete and thorough, making sure every available legal avenue is considered and weighed.

In addition to his practice, Mr. Ricketts is active in his community and profession. He has received the KBA's Continuing Legal Education Award for eight straight years, and has presented or moderated CLE's for the benefit of his colleagues. He has been a member of the Louis D. Brandeis American Inns of Court, he has served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Kentuckiana Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Cub Master for his local Cub Scout Pack, and soccer coach. Mr. Ricketts also serves as a member of the Foster Care Review Board for Jefferson County and has been appointed to Metro Louisville's Ethics Commission. Mr. Ricketts remains active in the Kentucky and Louisville Bar Associations and serves in the Navy Reserve, having achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Jonathan Ricketts is an Eagle Scout.
